Hailing from the famous Vedado disctrict, and following his father’s footsteps, Chan Junior is considered a pioneer of the real timba.

Since he was a child, he loved to play with rhythm and melodies, browsing in the middle of all the instruments of Arcadio Chan (his father), and the other artists of the famous “Tropicana” nightclub.

Graduated at the Professional Music School “Ignacio Cervantes” of Cuba, he performed as main singer with many famous Cuban orchestras, welcomed with great acceptance in the most important nightclubs, discotheques music rooms, theatres, amphitheatres and auditorium of his country.

His success spread worldwide thanks to radio stations and televisions, reaching immediately different Latin-American countries (Peru, Columbia, Argentina, Porto Rico and Mexico). Coming back from an international tour together with “the best” (Celia Cruz, Oscar de Leon, Johnny Ventura, Willie Colon, Omara Portuondo, Tata Guines and more), he decided to set up and arrange his own orchestra “CHAN JUNIOR Y SU ORQUESTA”.

Not only for his professionalism, competences and musical contaminations, but especially for his great talent of expression and interpretation, the most famous Cuban TV’s and Radio Stations invited him for interviews and live performances.

His songs “Asì es la Humanidad”, “Esa chica està suave”, “Mucho cuidado”, “No me provoques”,

reached immediately the Hit Parade in Cuba.

In November 1996 Chan Junior arrived in Italy, where he decided to live for some years, bringing the timba and the Cuban music in several cities like Rome, Milan, Bari, Naples, Foggia, Potenza and others.

In Bari Stadium, together with his 15 elements orchestra, he shared the stage with the most famous Italian music stars.

In 2000, he performed during the International Salsa Festival of Benicasim – España, together with Los Van Van and other “big” of Cuban music.

Productions:

He took part to a Mixed Compilation presented by Celia Cruz in the U.S.A. called “CD milagro” or “Salsa Cuban Rhythm” – Sony Music, dedicated to Cuban baseball.

Later on, he moved to Valencia – Spain, where he’s living presently. He arranged a new orchestra “CHAN JUNIOR Y SU ALL STAR”, starting working on a new production: “Mi homenaje a los grandes” (2003). This work took him to sign with very important record companies in U.S.A and Porto Rico. Platano Records Miami = Sony Records U.S.A. qualified this production as Five Stars.

Some pieces of this latest compilation were featured in the American Hit Parade, and he was the only Cuban artist in the highest music rankings.

“La Zarzamora”, “Margarita”, “Ya sè que tienes novio”, “Yo bailo de todo” y “Guantanamera” quickly jumped to the top of the Hit Parade in Spain and in Latin-America. He participated to several Music Festivals in Spain and abroad, tours and concerts, but also to private events and conventions.
